Marr 11 Jun 1834 at Saint James, Paddington, London, to James Frederick SHIERS (ref IGI), occupation Bricklayer. James was a bachelor of this parish, Ann was a spinster of this parish, and they were married by Banns; witnesses were Elizabeth Southon and Wm Hagy (ref Ancestry London marriages). James was born 25 Sep 1809, bap 27 Dec 1809 at Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, son of Richard SHIERS and Hannah.

James was a builder of Charlton Street in 1836 (baptism of son Frederick).

Mary died 13 Feb 1861 at 22 Fitzroy Street, Collingwood, Vic (Vic reg 206), bur 14 Feb 1861 at St Kilda Cem, C of E, B No. 148. (Ref her DC on the Serle tree.) No probate found.
"Funeral Notices. The Friends of Mr James Serle are respectfully invited to follow the remains of his late wife to St. Kilda Cemetery. Funeral to leave his residence, Devonshire Hotel, Gertrude-street, Collingwood, at 3 o'clock this day, February 14." (ref The Argus, Thurs 14 Feb 1861, Trove)

Marr in June quarter 1859 at Pancras to James Frederick SHIERS who was the husband of her late sister Ann (ref FreeBMD). She was reported to have married late in life (letter written 21 Aug 1909 by Eliza Andrew nee Serle, copy held by L.Shade). The marriage was 8 May 1859 at the Register Office District of Pancras (ref Marr Cert held by Jane Russell).

"They went to Bristol." (Letter written 21 Aug 1909 by Eliza Andrew nee Serle) There appears to have been a family tragedy since all three living children were in the new Orphan House, Ashley Down, Bristol before Christmas 1851; in the 1851 census the girls were listed at the Orphan House and George age 8 was with the Court grandparents at 18 Bath Street, Temple, Bristol; perhaps this is why they moved to Bristol.

Frederick was admitted many times to the St Pancras Workhouse, including: from 13 Dec 1859 to 19 Dec 1859, and from 22 Dec 1861 to 13 Jan 1862, and readmitted on 2 Nov 1863. He was admitted to the Tower Hamlets, Stepney, Workhouse on 21 Feb 1868, and discharged on the 8 Apr 1868. On this occasion he was aged 52, of 95 Wentworth Street, Widower, Painter, with Chest Affection.
