An article in The Times on 10 Sep 1913 described Alfred appearing in a Police Court: "At the Kingston-on-Thames Police Court yesterday, before Mr. W. Allard and other magistrates, the REV. ALFRED WILLIAM JARVIS CAZALY, 47, described on the charge-sheet as a Dissenting minister, of Salterford-road, Tooting, was charged with running away and leaving his wife and five children under 16 years of age chargeable to the common fund of the Kingston Union. The prisoner was further charged on a warrant with deserting his wife and children, and failing to pay arrears of maintenance amounting to 6 pound 7 shillings due to his wife, Mrs. Rose Hortense Cazaly." In 1921 her daughter Ethel emigrated to Canada permanently; Rose's address was Devon House, Teignmouth, E.Devon (ref Ancestry, Canada, Ocean Arrivals). In 1923 Rose and her daughter Ida left on the vessel 'Montclare' for Saint John NB, Canada (ref findmypast passenger transcripts).
