Introduction
Walker ~ First Generation

    Walter WALKER GOWARD
Presumably born c1700. His residence at marriage was Wigston Magna, Leicestershire. No earlier records found yet for him.

Marriage 8 Oct 1735 at Peatling Parva, Leicestershire of Walter GOWARD to Mary RASKE.
"Walter Goward of ye parish of Great Wigston to Mary Raske of ye parish were marrd. Oct.ber 8th 1735" (ref findmypast image, Peatling Parva Parish register).

The most likely baptism for Mary is that of Mary Rask on 15 Mar 1704 at Wigston Magna, dau of William & Anne (ref fmp Leicestershire baptisms image); there are no baptisms of that name in or near Peatling Parva, despite that being where she was living at her marriage. William Rask married Ane CARR on 18 Jun 1702 at Wigston Magna (ref fmp Leicestershire marriages image). The Rask family can be traced back in Wigston Magna.

The use of the surname Goward appears to have been changing by 1764, at which time his Will was written as Walter Walker but his burial was still in the name of Gower [sic].
