There is some confusion in the records about which Mary or Ann Dunsford was the wife of Joshua or Joseph Lightfoot, so there is an element of doubt about the following facts. The opinion of other Dunsford researchers has been taken into account (in 2011) in forming the following family structure. This information has been removed from Ann Dunsford (below).

Marriage 30 Apr 1787 at Topsham, Devon of Mary Dunsford to Joshua LIGHTFOOT (ref IGI). He was a confectioner (sometimes known as Joseph) (ref marriage cert of his son Charles). Joshua was bap 26 Aug 1764 at Aylesbeare, Devon, son of Joshua Lightfoot & Eliz (ref IGI).

5.   Agniss DUNSFORD
Bap 17 Mar 1776 at Farringdon, Devon, dau of William & Ann Dunsford (ref IGI). Broad Clyst is about 8 km (about 5 miles) from Farringdon which makes this a likely scenario.

It is virtually certain that an Agniss Dunsford, bap 1776 at Farringdon, Devon, daughter of a William and Ann Dunsford, is the ancestor of this writer (Libby), going by the relatively unusual name and the knowledge of her marriage to James SERLE in 1804.

Recent information has tied a descendant of this Agniss (Eliza Serle) by means of written material to Ann Dunsford who was the mother of Charles Lightfoot, and who has been researched by Elizabeth Dunlop.

It seems certain that Agnes and Ann were sisters, and that the Broad Clyst family of the 4 children listed above show the more likely naming patterns to be the family of the relevant Ann Dunsford. The following tree is put together on this premise.

Marr 3 Jan 1804 in Kenton Parish of Agness Densford to James SERLE (ref KPR and K IGI records). James was bap 27 Mar 1777 in Kenton Parish, Devon, England (ref KPR and K IGI records). James and Agnes were living in Starcross in the 1841 census. See the SERLE tree for all descendants.

Agnes died 18 Nov 1845 at "5 pm at 50 Drummond St London " (ref her death cert). It seems she fell ill while visiting her son and family. It was reg Dec qtr 1845 at St Pancras district (ref FreeBMD).

James died 17th Oct 1855. The death was reg Sep qtr 1855 at St Pancras district (ref FreeBMD).

'Buried in the churchyard at Starcross, Devon. The inscription reads "In memory of James Serle who died October 17th. 1855 aged 78. Also of Agnes Serle his wife who died Nov 18th 1845 aged 69 and was buried in St. Giles' Cemetery, Old St. Pancras, London".

FROM WHOM LIBBY SHADE IS DESCENDED.
