    Children:

  2. Jean BRIET bap 1703 at Threadneedle Street French Huguenot, London

8.   Jacques (James) LEVESQUE
As stated earlier, I have included the siblings Jacques, Jeanne and Marie Anne as children of Jacques and Anne (though this may be wrong) because of the close connection between all of these families in both London and France and the suitability of the birth dates; dates are very vague but what binds the three together is the Will of Maria Fondemare nee Campard, who married Jacques (James).

Jacques was probably baptised in France as the baptism has not been found in London. On 30 Dec 1713, Jacques Levesque of Bolbec joined the French churches in London and was probably this one. (Information provided by Richard Edmunds 2012).

Sargeant's notes give the marriage of Jacques Levesque on 7 Sep 1740 at Wheeler St, Spitalfields, London, to Maria (Mary) FONDEMARE, witnesses Elie & Marie Anne Duchemin. Her maiden surname was Campard (Campart). She was previously married to Pierre (Peter) FONDEMARE. Pierre Fondimare married Marie Campard 29 Dec 1717 at Wheeler Street FH Chapel, Spitalfields, witnesses John Leveque and Abraham le Carpentier. This would explain why so many of her nieces and nephews had the surname Campart. Peter Fondimarre was buried 12 Jun 1738 at Christ Church, Spitalfields, 'from Stepney, Man' (ref Ancestry burials etc).

The connection is the will of a Mary Levesque, widow of James Levesque; Mary died 1766, and James had previously died. Mary was buried 30 Jan 1766 at Christ Church, Spitalfields, "of Lamb Street, age 79" (ref Ancestry) so was born c1687.
There is a burial of James Levesque at the same place 2 Oct 1756 aged 69 (ref Ancestry) so also born c1687.

[Much of this material provided by Richard Edmunds 2012).

The various relations mentioned in her Will (which was written in French in 1765) are as follows:

Levesque Wills

9.   Jeanne LEVESQUE
Probably baptised in France.

Married Pierre (Peter) AUBER. He may have been the Pierre Auber born 1697 in a list of Huguenots in the register of St Eustache 1696-1710 (ref R.Edmunds 2012).

    Children:
  1. James Abraham AUBER born c1722 in France
  2. Peter Abraham AUBER born c1724 in France
10.   Marie Anne LEVESQUE

Married Elie DUCHEMIN. (Date not found in Boyd.). He was born c1690, son of Elie & Magdelaine Duchemin of Lintot; other siblings were Magdeleine c1684, Jean c1686, Pierre c1688, Marie Madeleine c1691, Louis c1693, Anne c1696, Suzanne c1697, all born in France after the closure of the Lintot temple so exact dates are not known. Jean, Pierre, Elie, Louis, Magdeleine and Marie fled to England in 1713. The four brothers were accepted into the congregation of La Patente Spitalfields on 4 Oct 1713. (Information provided by Richard Edmunds 2012).

Elie died 1744 (ref P. Cazaly).
There is a burial of Mary Anne Duchemine 1 Jan 1745/46 at Christ Church, Spitalfields, Woman, of Browns Lane (ref Ancestry Burials etc).

The child Anne Louise is doubtful due to her birthdate being so much later.

Jaques L'Eveque "de Nismes" is identified as the father of Marie (Mary) DELESSART or DE LESSART, widow of Cyrus DeLessart, Marie entered the French Hospital in 1783 (ref Huguenot Society Quarto Series). Her date of birth was approximately 1709. This would give Jaques a birth date of approximately 1680.

It is possible, though not proved, that he was also the father of James Levesque who died in London in 1767 aged 61, for whom no other details have been found.
