Who are we?

Three groups make up the Eltham Orchestras (Incorporated) organisation:

Eltham Beginner Strings - this is an open age beginner string group, ranging from beginner level to grade 3.

Eltham String Ensemble - this is an open age intermediate string group with a standard from grade 4 to grade 6.

Eltham Orchestra (formerly known as the Diamond Valley & Eltham Community Orchestra) - this is an open age orchestra.

At the present time there are vacancies for a range of instruments. If you would like to attend a Wednesday evening rehearsal to see whether the orchestra is suitable for you, and you are at the appropriate playing level, please contact Mary Wright (see details below).

Potential players are warmly invited to contact us. Up to 50 players attend the weekly rehearsals, which are held on Wednesday evenings.

Concert performances take place regularly. A highlight of each year is the joint participation with the Diamond Valley Singers in a fully staged theatre show. Profits normally go to to World Vision and Open House. The shows in 2011 and 2012 were 'Kiss Me Kate' and "The Pyjama Game '

Next year the production is "PIRATES OF PENZANCE" so make a note in your diaries for July school holidays, 2013!

Rehearsals

Practices take place weekly, on Wednesdays, at Briar Hill Primary School.

The Eltham Beginner Strings' rehearsal is 6pm to 7pm, the Eltham String Ensemble 7pm to 8.00pm, and the Eltham Orchestra members arrive at 7.45 pm to start playing at 8 pm. There is a woodwind tutorial from 9.15 pm to 10.00 pm. Players may attend more than one of these sessions.
