In 1799 the Vicar of Barkway Thomas Bargus undertook a 'census' of the residents of Reed and Barkway. The following family was listed:- Bysouth - Thomas. Labourer N-D Catherine his Wife John - 18 Martha - 12 Robert Brown - Pauper 5 in Family. Catherine was buried 8 Feb 1807 at St Mary Magdalene, Barkway, aged 71 (ref findmypast). Thomas was buried on 24 Apr 1825 at St Mary Magdalene, Barkway, aged 89 (ref findmypast). |

John was a bachelor, Sarah a spinster (ref parish rec). It is believed by several researchers that John CAMP married again, on 15 May 1797 at Reed, Hertford, England to Sarah WHITACKS (ref IGI). They were both of the parish of Reed (ref parish rec). This second marriage satisfies the difficulties of the 1799 census. In 1799 the Vicar of Barkway Thomas Bargus undertook a 'census' of the residents of Reed and Barkway. The following family was listed:- Camp - John - Labourer Sarah his Wife Joseph age 11 Sarah age 2 Susanna age 5 Elizabeth age 1 Mary Bysouth - Pauper 7 in Family. Hence Joseph and Susanna are taken as from the first marriage, and Sarah and Elizabeth from the second. They went on to have many more children, who are not covered in this tree. There is a burial at Reed of John Camp of Reed, 3 Nov 1833 age 85 (i.e. born c1748) which would fit (ref parish rec). |
